Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 pounds chicken breasts
  • 1.5 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 2-4 tablespoons Asian sweet chili sauce to taste
  • sriracha to taste (optional)
  • 0.33 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 0.33 cup ketchup
  • 0.33 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1.5 teaspoons garlic powder or 3-4 garlic cloves minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ginger powder or 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon pepper
  • toasted sesame seeds for garnish
  • chopped green onions for garnish
  • sriracha or Asian chili sauce to taste for garnish

Method
 

  1. Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, mix together cornstarch, water, sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, rice wine, sesame oil, garlic powder, onion powder, ginger powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  4. Cook on low for 4 hours or until chicken is tender.
  5. Shred the chicken with two forks and mix it back into the sauce.
  6. Serve garnished with toasted sesame seeds, chopped green onions, and additional sriracha or chili sauce if desired.
