Mix the Wholesome Oat Base
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch or 9-inch round ceramic or glass baking dish with butter.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, baking powder, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and sea salt.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together whole milk, beaten eggs, pure maple syrup, melted butter, and vanilla extract until fully combined. Pour the wet mixture over the dry oats and stir until evenly moistened. Pour the batter into your prepared baking dish and smooth the surface.
Create the Cinnamon Roll Ripple
- In a small bowl, stir together melted butter, dark brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until a glossy spiced paste forms.
- Dollop the cinnamon sugar mixture across the top of the oat batter. Using the tip of a butter knife or small wooden spoon, gently drag and swirl the mixture through the top layer of oats in concentric spiral circles to mimic a classic bakery cinnamon roll.
Bake to Golden Perfection & Glaze
- Bake in the preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 32 to 35 minutes until the center is gently set, the edges are lightly puffed and golden, and your kitchen smells like a bakery.
- While the oatmeal bakes, whisk together softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and pourable.
- Let the baked oatmeal rest for 5 minutes after removing from the oven, then drizzle the warm vanilla cream cheese glaze generously over the top. Slice into 6 hearty portions and serve warm.
